San Francisco Mural Field Trip Part 2

The second part of the field trip consisted of visiting the Mission District in San Francisco. The Mission District is literally covered in murals of all shapes and sizes that reflect the community's culture and history.
The mural you see here is located on the sides of the Women's Center. At the top is an image of humanitarian Rigoberta Menchu. The mural is constantly maintained by the city so that its always in good shape.

There were definitely a variety of murals throughout the Mission District. At every corner and alley way we turned there was a mural to greet us. Each mural with it's own theme and message. We saw it all, from the basic to the abstract.

Entitled "La Llorona" after the infamous folktale, this mural captures the struggles of many cultures.
This particular mural dealt with the civil war in El Salvador.
